Patients with Tired, Dark Under-Eyes? Refresh Them with Juvederm!
Juvederm for Eye Bags

Whether they’re caused by fatigue, genetics, or the ageing process, under-eye bags are an incredibly common issue. And, while a variety of cosmetic creams and so-called “natural” treatments – such as cucumber compresses, rosewater, and raw potato slices  – are often suggested as a cure-all for this troublesome issue, hyaluronic fillers provide much more effective, long-lasting results. If your patients are complaining about puffy, discolored, or tired-looking under-eyes, consider treating them with Juvederm injections.

What causes dark circles and under-eye bags?

As previously mentioned, dark circles – a general term for cosmetic concerns in the under-eye area – may stem from a variety of issues. Characterized by a lack of fat beneath the eye, this discoloration stems from an indentation known as the “tear trough hollow.” While genetics are often a culprit for this problem, fatigue, dehydration, allergies, and the aging process may also worsen the appearance of these depressions.

While eating well, protecting the skin, and sleeping adequately may prevent the worsening of dark circles, skin fillers – like Juvederm – are highly effective at reducing the tear trough hollow.

Why Juvederm?

An industry leader in the creation of effective, safe aesthetic solutions, Juvederm is a trusted provider of hyaluronic acid fillers. As such, it is optimal for use in delicate treatment areas, such as the under-eyes.

Juvederm’s Ultra XC formula is often used for the correction of eye bags and dark circles. When injected into the tear trough hollow, this unique product harnesses the volumizing power of hyaluronic acid to fill in and rejuvenate the under-eyes.

It should be noted that while results depend on both patient and practitioner, Juvederm’s results should last between 9 months to 1 year in this area.

How does it work?

Naturally found within the body, Juvederm’s hyaluronic acid has an innate ability to retain water at the cellular level. With this, it hydrates and volumizes the injection site through the attraction of water molecules. When placed into the under-eye area, this helps to correct any discoloration by filling in hollows and replacing lost moisture.

Generally, Juvederm Ultra XC should be injected beneath the eyes using the microcannula method. This will prevent excessive bruising and swelling in the area, while also providing higher levels of comfort to your patients.

Is it safe?

When administered by an experienced and certified specialist, Juvederm injections are incredibly safe. However, certain individuals, including those who are breastfeeding, pregnant, and underage, should not receive dermal fillers. Additionally, each patient’s medical history should be consulted for contraindications (including medications, allergies, and existing conditions) before Juvederm is administered.

It should also be noted that minor side effects, including bruising, discomfort, and swelling at the injection site, may be experienced. Any adverse effects should be reported immediately to a medical professional.

Offer your patients the ability to refresh their under-eye area with Juvederm treatments. Rather than offering them the false promise of brighter, smoother skin, Juvederm actually delivers results – something you and your patients can both feel good about.
